Hair Loss: Causes and Cures

Get to the bottom of what's causing your hair loss. The reasons could be a lot more serious than you think.

Hair can really make or break your day. A fabulous style and cut boosts your mood instantly. But waking up on the wrong side of the bed with bad hair to boot, and you might as well throw it all up into a ponytail or messy bun. However, losing your hair can have even worse consequences. The causes of thinning hair include hormonal swings associated with pregnancy and childbirth, alopecia, and other scalp disorders, thyroid disorders, poor nutrition, and courses of medication such as cancer-fighting drugs. High and tight hairstyles can also potentially add to hair loss as well as harsh fluids like bleaches, colorants, and permanent fluids.

If you feel as if your hair treatments could be causing your hair loss, considering changing up your style. But you should also consider the more serious possibilities and consult your doctor. You doctor will be able to check for any of the issues listed above, and be able to give you peace of mind (the stress could lead to even more hair loss!) Make sure you’re getting your daily dose of vitamin D, since that particular vitamin is essential to your overall hair health!

If you’re losing hair due to treatment, there are always solutions to work around it. Wigs, hairpieces, and extensions are specifically designed to give your tresses more volume. But at the end of the day, the most important thing is to have confidence. Long hair, short hair, or no hair: you are fabulous no matter what!
