Fall Nail Trends

Fall 2012 Nail Trends

Forget the it-bag or the new must-have pair of shoes. Nail polish is the gotta have it accessory for fall and we can't wait to get our hands on these shades.

Just like with clothing, darker colors are more appropriate for fall. Chocolate browns, midnight blues, emerald, burgundy, plum and wine shades are all suited for the autumn months. One of the standout colors from the fall polish collections was a cool gray polish from NARS called Stormbird. You also can't go wrong with mauves, taupe or tans if you prefer a neutral manicure.

Butter London's fall colors were inspired by fabrics like velvet, sequins, satin and tweed. The earthy colors contain glitter, metallic shades and even holographic glitter.

Sonia Kashuk's budget friendly polish can be picked up at Target. Her fall nail colors hit every trend from metallics to jewel tones.

Collections to be on the lookout for are China Glaze's Safari collection which includes several deep red and purples as well as a stunning burnt orange and cobalt blue.

Essie, one of our favorite brands, has released their Stylenomics collection for fall. We've got our eyes on that jade green polish. It would look great layered with gold glitter on top, or just on the tips of nails for an eye-catching French manicure.

Orly's fall collection is not for the squeamish. It's called Fired Up and the colors are designed to resemble the inner workings of the human body.

If one shade doesn't do it for you and you're a nail art kind of girl, look to the fall runways for inspiration. Models at L.A.M.B. sported a reverse French mani while the tips at Rebecca Minkoff were painted a dark brown.

One nail art trick that we can't wait to try is this ombre manicure. It would look great with the new fall colors.
