5 Get Fit Tips

5 Get Fit Tips

If you are training to get a rock hard athletic body, or just trying to get fit, follow this helpful advice from Michele Sotak of Score Fitness. You will be on your way to achieving your fitness goals in no time.

1. Have a workout plan and establish realistic goals.
This is step one on scoring an athletic body. You need to be doing something physically active. Visualize your goals and make a game plan on how to realistically achieve it. Make short term goals that will be easy to accomplish, but don’t forget the bigger picture.

“Internalizing goal setting behavior is critical for long term success in your sport and in life,” says Michele. “Hiring a certified personal trainer who specializes in strength and conditioning is the most effective way to devising a customized plan to reaching your fitness and sports-specific goals.”

2. Eat a well-balanced, high performance diet.
Your nutrition plan should be sensible and balanced. Michele suggests eating more vegetables, fruits, fish and whole grains. Also try to include healthy fats such as avocado, nuts and olive oil.
“Athletes need to control their weight while supplying enough calories to meet their energy needs and the right fuel will do wonders for your performance,” says Michele.
Remember to eat healthy and eat with purpose.

3. Train all year round.
What differentiates athletes from everyone else is their dedication. They are training just as hard in the off-season as they are during their playing time. It’s a fact that you cannot improve your fitness when you skip out on workouts.

“You don't want to lose the tangible results you worked so hard for and you also don't want to lose momentum or discipline,” says Michele.  “If it's winter and you don't feel like leaving your house to go to the gym, you can stay at home and do calisthenics (body weight exercises) such as planks, pushups, squats, lunges and crunches.”

4. Working Out is Also Mental.
Training the mind is just as challenging, if not more, then training the body. To become fit or to succeed in a sport, you need to believe in themselves and your potential. Training the mind should be a priority. It’s not something that will happen overnight, it’s an on-going process.

“It's easy to get discouraged and lazy, but developing will power and mental strength will get you through it,” says Michele. “One way of doing this knowing why you want build your dream body, and keep that why in your mind when you are in doubt.”

5. Have fun.
Keep the exercises and activities fun. Workout with friends, listen to music that you enjoy and change up your workouts so you never get bored.
