Sun Salutations

Sun Salutations

This relaxing form of yoga originated in India and is practiced at many Hindu schools. It is comprised of stretches that can be used as warm-ups or cool-downs from a more intense workout. Or, give them a shot when you just need a calming break in the middle of a hectic day. The full stretch rotation moves in a loop, ending where you started.

You can follow a detailed tutorial of each pose or just do them out of order and however feels comfortable to you. This particular move takes the form of a reigned horse. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and then move one foot all the way back, sinking into a lunge as if to begin mountain climbers. Stretch up and forward, keeping your hands on either side of the planted foot or extending your arms above your head in balance.
