2011 brought a lot of great trends, some of which are out the door and others which will make a major appearance in 2012. Keep reading to see the Top 6 beauty trends of 2011!
Ombre
You've probably heard of the ombre look, where like tie-dye, a color gradient is used to make a beautiful scheme on nails or hair. Lauren Conrad famously rocked both looks with her blue ombre nails and brown to platinum ombre locks. If you didn't try this craze in 2011, definitely look for it in 2012.
One Nail Different Color
One of the easiest fashion-forward trends of the year, this is easy to temporarily create in your own home. Just paint all of your nails one color, and do something a bit different to your ring finger, such as giving it a different color or top coat. Adding a sparkly glitter to your ring finger can help set off that engagement or cocktail ring.
Bold Brows
There are definitely those years that showcase thin brows or light brows, but this year was all about the bold brown or black brow. Looking at Emma Watson and Kate Middleton: they both had knockout years in 2011 and showcased their bold brows with pride.
Cat Eye
The cat eye was a major trend this year, and green and hazel-eyed stars especially embraced the trend. A look usually reserved for more daring stars like Angelina Jolie, regular celebs from Leighton Meister to Ginnifer Goodwin were seen rocking the look like professionals. The secret is a nice wing of eyeliner, supported by a great smokey shadow.
Pale Skin
Fake tans have been on their way out for a while, but 2011 definitely embraced our fairer skinned comrades. Zooey Deschanel, rocking dark hair with light skin on her new hit show New Girl, is exemplifying a quality that Nicole Kidman and many others have: it's ok to be pale, and being tan doesn't make you more beautiful.
Asymmetrical Haircuts
Middle parts and even hair of one length are beloved by some, but other trendier styles made a big splash in 2011. The asymmetrical bob was sported by the likes of Gwenyth Paltrow, Emma Watson, and Victoria Beckham. Instead of just making the back a different length than the front, stars were even making one side longer than the other side in the front, a trend that will definitely continue to push the boundaries of ordinary haircuts.
