How to Beat Fine Hair PDF Print E-mail

Do you find yourself envying celebs with thick, voluminous locks?  Those of us with fine and lifeless hair often think that we’ll never look like the movie stars, but luckily, there are ways to get thicker, fuller hair with more body.  Here are some easy ways to attain the hair you’ve always wanted.
Products
Specialized shampoos and conditioners are readily available at your local drugstore or beauty supply store.  Look for the words “thickening” or “volumizing” on the bottles and also look to see if they refer to their product as “lightweight.”  Heavy products will simply weigh down your hair, making it look even flatter and more lifeless.  Only apply conditioner from mid-shaft to ends, avoiding the roots.

There are also various thickening serums, sprays, and gels on the market.  Again, make sure that these are lightweight products.  For added volume, try using a root booster spray or a volumizing spray.  These products will give some body to your hair and make it appear less limp.

Cut
Getting the right cut can be tricky.  Many people think that the longer your hair is, the thicker it will appear, but this is usually not the case.  Having super long hair will simply emphasize how flat and thin your hair actually is.  Shorter cuts, such a pixie cuts or bobs can make your hair appear more voluminous.  Blunt cuts will also give your hair the appearance of more weight.

Styling

Simple things can make a big difference when you’re working with thin hair.  Blow-drying your hair upside-down can build up some body, as will teasing your roots a bit.  Try blow-drying your hair while using a round brush to create volume and shape to your hair.  Try curling your hair or giving it sexy waves for a celebrity look, as well.  If you don’t have a curling iron, try braiding your hair before bed; you’ll wake up with beautiful, bouncy locks in the morning.

Finally, if you want more hair, get more hair!  Hair extensions can be clipped or woven into the hair to add a thicker appearance to your ‘do.
