Mature women should be proud of their age and life accomplishments, so there is no reason why they shouldn't seek out the most flattering haircut to show off their confidence! The key is to keep your hair simple, chic and appropriate, whether you are active in the workforce or spending your time enjoying life with family and friends. Read more to find out how you can have sleek and simple hair in no time at all!
The key to gorgeous hair is simple upkeep. No one wants to look like they spent too much time and effort on their look, but they want to look clean and fresh all the same. Here are some of the cuts that will flatter you the most!
The bob. As we get older, our hair may thin out slightly, which is why the bob is such a wonderful and versatile haircut. There are so many variations! You can keep it tucked under your ears or blow it out with a round brush. Bobs can be longer, nearly to the shoulder or cut short and layered above the ears. A graduated bob, which is shorter in the back, gives your hair dimension and great visual interest. An angled asymmetrical cut that is shorter on one side flatters square jawlines and keeps the eyes moving. These cuts are successful with both straight and wavy hair and can be cut with bangs or without!
Mid-length curls. Sometimes a longer cut on a mature woman looks dated and stuck in the 1960's hippie days, but if you are blessed with curls, a mid-length style like that of Susan Sarandon (loose and pretty) or Bernadette Peters (coiled and contained) would be easy to maintain with a simple product or two. If you live in hotter weather, the curly look may frizz, so be sure to have a control product on hand!
The spiky shag. Don't want to go too short? This is the cut for you! Modern and chic, this look is great for women with hair that leans toward the thinner side. On the shorter side, Annette Benning has made this look her staple, and on the longer end, actress Taraji P. Henson has made this look her own. It is easy, breezy and very simple to style with a little mousse or pomade!
Determined to keep your long hair? If you have thick, beautiful hair, we don't blame you one bit for not wanting to cut it shorter! Just be aware that keeping it loose can look a little dated. Pull it back in a classy chignon or pin it back in a clean style that won't get in the way of your everyday activities.
As you get older, your hair may get thinner and more brittle. Take vitamin supplements and make sure you are getting your daily calcium. This will help maintain healthy hair and make your days all the easier when it comes to styling and getting out the door in a jiffy!
