Diet Trend: All About Juicing! PDF Print E-mail
A spin on the typical detox of water or smoothies, juicing is all about focusing on using fresh fruit and raw vegetables to slim down and stay healthy on a budget. Read on to find out more about how you can use this process in your own diet at home. Note: This diet is not recommended for diabetics or pregnant women.

Juicing is just what it sounds like. Dieters use an at-home juicer to juice fruits and vegetables. This diet does not include solid foods and therefore it isn't recommended for everyone. On the other hand, everyone should be eating raw fruits and veggies and there are plenty of these in this diet plan.

Many times when we are hungry, we are not craving the calories in general as much as our body is just asking us for nutrients. The raw fruit and vegetable juice plan taken for 1-3 days is as much a detoxification as it is a natural diet plan. This is a quick way to remove any sort of toxins from the body and can be completed before reverting back to a healthy eating plan that slowly reincorporates solid foods.

Juice diets improve your energy levels in ways that normal detox or fasting diets do not. Your body is still consuming calories, vitamins and minerals, though they are only coming from these raw natural sources. If you have not completed a detox or fast in the past, be prepared: it isn't easy. Incorporating juicing into a different diet plan could also be a way to use these ideas in a different form without committing to the full program, as it is rigorous and difficult for some.

Facts to Remember About the Juice Diet:

Before you start this plan, reduce your intake of: alcohol, nicotine, meat, dairy, fish, eggs and wheat products. Start sustaining on vegetables and fruits for at least 5-7 days.

You can expect to drink up to 64 ounces a day of juice.

Drink 5-6 glasses of water a day in addition to the juice.

Organic fruits and vegetables are ideal for this plan. Consider using nutrient-rich varieties such as kale, carrots, beets, spinach, apples, and cranberries.

Remember to stay healthy and keep track of your caloric intake. Consult a professional before attempting this plan and certainly speak to a doctor if you feel weak during the plan. This plan isn't for everyone- especially the 'meat and potatoes' types! If you're not up for the juice diet, try some of these wonderful smoothies instead!
