|
There are some recommended levels of fitness provided by the government in an effort to curb obesity and weight-related ailments. Keep reading to learn how much you should be exercising, and tell us what you do to stay fit!
It is recommended for people to get a half hour of cardio about 5 times per week. The point of cardio is to raise your heart rate, and get your blood pumping. Try running, bicycling, or even walking as a method of getting cardio time clocked in. Just make sure to challenge yourself - even going for a 30 minute walk doesn't count if you don't break a good sweat! An alternative to getting 30 minutes of cardio 5 times a week is to get 20 minutes of intense exercise twice a week. Intense exercise involves very fast running, or another type of rigorous exercise for a prolonged period of time. There are lots of great ways to add cardio to your daily routine. In addition to running and biking, try joining a club sport such as tennis or basketball. With all the athleticism and running involved in participating, you will get your cardio in record time. The benefit of exercising with a sport is the added mental stimulation, and the fact that you're not staring at a stopwatch counting the time left. Sports add in a goal and engage you during exercise, and you might even be more willing to clock in your hours if you're meeting people for a game. Tell us: What are your favorite cardio exercises? Do you enjoy training for a specific race, or would you rather participate in a sport?
