Friends, Not Doctors, Give Most Advice On Herbal Remedies PDF Print E-mail
A survey of Minneapolis-St. Paul adults found those who use herbal products to treat or prevent an array of health conditions appear to rely on family and friends more than on doctors for information. The report appears in Mayo Clinic Proceedings. The most commonly reported reason for using herbs varied, depending on the herb. Promotion of general health and well-being was the primary reason for using five herbs. Sixty percent of the volunteers rated 11 of 13 herbs as effective or very effective. 'The survey results provide key information about herbal product use that can be helpful to physicians,' the authors at the Mayo Clinic write.
