This is an old Pennsylvania Dutch apple pie recipe that I got from my grandmother. The apples taste perfect no matter what kind you use!
Ingredients Crust: * 3 C. flour * 2 C. shortening * 1/4 C. sugar * 1/2 C. water * pinch of salt * 1 tsp. vinegar Filling: * 6 lbs. apples (peeled, cored and sliced) * 1/2 C. sugar * 2 Tbs. cinnamon * 1/2 C. water Directions For crust, mix ingredients together until they form a soft ball. Cut ball in half (for double crust). Roll out on WELL floured board. Place bottom crust in a 9-inch glass pan. For filling, combine ingredients in large pot and cook on medium heat until apples are tender. Stir constantly so sugar, cinnamon and juice blend. Pour filling into crust. Top with second crust. Cut design in crust and brush with milk. Bake at 350 degrees until golden (about 45 minutes). This recipe is from the popular cooking and recipe Web site, Recipe4Living.
