Poached Pears PDF Print E-mail
This is a simple recipe that doesn’t require many ingredients and is done in no time.  Pears are a hypoallergenic fruit, which means that most people can eat them without any adverse reaction.  Pears also promote cardiovascular and colon health, and are also a great source of fiber.

3 pears, halved, seeded, and peeled
4 C. water
1 lemon, squeezed
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. maple syrup

In a 4-quart pan, add water and bring to a boil. Add pears and cook for 8-10 minutes or until tender. Remove to cool. Pierce pears in several places for syrup.  In a small bowl, mix lemon juice, vanilla, cinnamon and maple syrup. Pour over pears.
