Homemade Hair Remedies

Did you know that most hair problems can be solved using homemade remedies? The all-natural ingredients are much safer to use than their chemical-ridden counterparts and can solve a whole bunch of problems. Everything from the humble cornstarch all the way to the vinegar and even beer can be used to brighten and strengthen your locks! Keep reading for all the tips!

Fine Hair: Believe it or not, you can thicken your fine hair by adding ½ C. of flat beer to 1 tsp. of canola oil and a raw egg. Just apply the mixture to clean, damp hair and allow to site for at least 15 minutes. Rinse the mixture out with cool water. Alternatively, you can use a spray bottle to apply the beer onto dry hair.

Dry Hair: Whether it be the sun, chlorine from pools, or curling/ironing your hair, dryness is really unavoidable. Luckily, it’s easy to fix the problem! All you have to do is massage ½ C. honey into clean and damp hair. Allow to sit for at least 20 minutes, and then rinse and shampoo to remove excess residue.

Greasy Hair: Believe it or not, cornstarch makes a cheap and quick dry shampoo to remove excess grease from the hair. Just sprinkle liberally onto dry hair and allow to sit for 10 minutes (you might want to do this in the shower so there isn’t a mess). After 10 minutes, just brush the excess cornstarch out. This can be used every other day to remove excess oil from hair!

Built Up Product: To remove built up product from your hair, mix equal parts apple cider vinegar and baking soda. Apply the paste that is formed to your hair, making sure to massage into the scalp. Allow to set for at least five minutes before rinsing out and following your normal shampoo and conditioning routine. Doing this once a week will keep hair healthy and manageable.
