You want to achieve that smudgy and sultry effect – not a smudgy and “bruised” look!
Here are the most important things to remember: use no more than 3 shades of eye shadow and a liner; careful blending is important, so have the right brushes on hand; and keep the darkest shade above the lash line.
Follow these simple steps, and you’ll be rockin’ those smokey eyes in no time!
- Start with a subtle smokey base using a mid-tone shadow all over the lid.
- Apply liner along the top lash line, and make sure you fill in the spaces between the lashes.
- Apply a dark toned shadow over the liner and blend over the lower half of the lid (or only halfway up the crease of the lid). Also apply over the bottom lash line, directly over the lash roots. Smudge lightly with your pinky finger. You can also apply liner to the bottom lash line for a more defined look.
- If you’re using a third and darker shade, apply over the outer corner of the eye and blend well with the second shadow going about a third of the way towards the inner corner. You can apply another layer over the outer corner for a more intense smudge. You can also match a third shadow with a glittery second shadow.
- Apply mascara.
Make your smokey eyes pop out even more by wearing a nude shade of lipstick! Opt for a long-wear cream shadow and long-wear gel liner for easier application and blending and a smokey effect that’ll last the whole night! And then you’ll be ready to knock ‘em dead with your sultry look!
