Medical experts are urging sports enthusiasts to play it safe during leisure-time basketball games. While basketball may seem harmless enough, the game results in more than 1.6 million injuries each year. Physicians note that many amateur players are often not physically well prepared for weekend games. Warming up and stretching one’s legs before games can help prevent any strain and sprains.
Injuries such as concussions, dislocations, elbow contusions, wrist or finger sprains and fractures should be attended to immediately, adds the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
