Why You Need Water Before Your Workout

We all know how important water is for our bodies, but when you work out, it’s crucial to keep yourself hydrated throughout your entire workout. Whether you’re working out intensely or not, anytime you sweat you run the risk of dehydration. Besides headaches or extreme thirst with mild dehydration, there are more serious symptoms to moderate or severe dehydration.

There are various hydration equations out there, but put simply it is important to drink water both before and after a workout. If a workout is longer than 40 minutes and if you weigh more, you should drink water in between your workout too. Anytime you exercise outside, make sure you bring water with you.

It’s important to note that hydration is different for women than it is for men. Our hormones react differently, and if you are taking birth control or any other medications with added hormones, you are at a higher risk for dehydration.
