For breakfast, Dale recommends oatmeal and protein powder. Mix 1/2 cup oatmeal with 1/2 cup to 1 cup whey protein powder. Mix this with almond, soy or low-fat milk. Another option is adding a high-fiber cereal to this oatmeal mixture. If you work out first thing in the morning, this breakfast makes for a great recovery treat. After any workout, replenishing your body with a mixture of carbohydrates and protein is essential. One of Dale’s drinks of choice is apple juice mixed with protein powder.
Dale also recommends cutting out as much processed foods as possible. Processed foods are foods that have been changed from their natural state. While some processed foods are healthy, like milk and frozen vegetables, most of the processed foods Americans eat is not, i.e. cookies, crackers, canned foods high in sodium, processed meats, etc. Foods with tons of chemicals, additives and preservativesdon’t do our bodies any favors, and, in fact, can do damage over time.
