De-Stress Before You Drive

If you're on the alert and paying attention to your surroundings, you're more likely to remain safe than if you're distracted. If you're extremely 'stressed out,' you won't be doing anybody any good by getting behind the wheel of a car, because you won't be paying attention to the most important things - the road and the traffic around you.

If you've had a really bad day at the office, or if the kids are driving you crazy, take a breather to de-stress...literally. Take a deep breath, hold it for the count of 10, then release. If this doesn't help calm you down, do it a few more times. Do yourself (and everybody else on the road) a favor, and don't drive if you're so stressed that you aren't paying attention. With all the publicity about 'road rage' these days, you'd think more people would try to calm down before they drive. If more people would drive calm, we'd have fewer accidents.
