keep it fresh

We were surprised to learn about how long apples can keep. There are a few simple steps to keep apples fresh for a long time. Though they can be kept on the counter for a couple of days, this fruit refrigerates exceptionally well. If you do keep apples on the counter even for a day or two, make sure to keep them separate from potatoes, which speed up their rotting process.

For apples to last longer than two days, they should definitely be kept in the fridge’s crisper drawer if available. Thirty to thirty-five degrees Fahrenheit is ideal to last the longest and they should be kept in a basket or bowl with a damp towel to cover them up. This should keep them for around three weeks, but if they’re wrapped separately and insulated in a cold place they could actually last for months. In storing apples, cold is key.
