Cherries

Similar to blueberries and carrots, cherries should not be rinsed before being stored. Rinsing them significantly decreases their shelf life. It’s important to refrigerate cherries, any container should be fine, especially a plastic bag. Another money-saving option: cherries also freeze well.

To freeze them, both their stems and pits should removed, rinsed and dried. The cherries themselves should be frozen on a baking sheet and then put in plastic bags with as little air as possible. Frozen cherries keep for about a year. Otherwise, their fridge life lasts from about 4 to 7 days as long as you remove any bruised or rotten cherries from the larger bunch.
