Style on a budget

Star Style on Any Budget

The Golden Globes, the SAG Awards, the Grammys and the Oscars are all coming up fast. Even though you may not be walking down the red carpet, you can still turn heads with these tips and tricks on how to have star style on any budget.

A lot of celebrities look stunning because they can spend a lot of money on style without worry. That doesn’t mean that you have to settle for anything less. If you know what you’re looking for, and you know what to expect in your style search, then you can turn heads just like they do, except you won’t need the red carpet.

As the award shows approach, name-dropping is inevitable. Designers are mentioned left and right. Designers always make a splash this time of year, and a word of caution must be said. When you’re out searching for designer accessories like the ones the stars are outfitted with on TV, don’t go for the knock-offs. The knock-offs can look great, but they are not well-made, and are more often than not not worth your money. Instead, search online at sites like, for deals and guidance on stylish products that won’t cost you a small fortune.

Also, when you think about designer items like dresses, remember that many stars get their dresses customized from the designer, which means you shouldn’t bother looking for a replica in a department store. Instead, find photos of the dress you like from many different angles, and take those photos with you to the store. This will help you find something stunning and close to the design, knowing that the design match will never be 100% accurate.

A mantra that you should never shop without is, “The longer it lasts, the longer I dazzle.” It is important to keep in mind that a hefty price tag, does not always mean exceptional quality. A lot of things that get into lofty price ranges might only last long if dry-cleaned a special way, or might simply not last long at all. So, when you’re out at the store, make sure to examine the materials closely; you might be pleasantly surprised to find a classy top or dress for a lot less that will last you a lot longer. Try out stores like Kohls, who carry a lot of designer lines, for good quality, fashionable swag.

Most importantly though, never forget to attach your signature to your ensemble. Stars look great, sure, and imitation is a great form of flattery, but your star style should still be yours. Give it your own flair. After all, you’re still you, and heads should be turning not because you look like Angelina, but because you and her just so happen to have similar, great tastes.
