Old-Fashioned Stuffed Peppers

Ingredients:

  • 4 bell peppers
  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked rice
  • Salt, to taste

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a large bowl, mix together the ground turkey, chopped onions, cooked rice, and salt. Stir until well combined.
  2. Hollow Out the Peppers: Cut off the tops of the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes inside.
  3. Stuff the Peppers: Stuff each hollowed-out pepper with the turkey and rice mixture, making sure they are evenly filled.
  4. Make the Sauce: In a separate bowl, mix the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, and a pinch of salt to create the sauce.
  5. Cook in the Crockpot: Place the stuffed peppers into your crockpot and pour the tomato sauce mixture over them. Cover and cook on low for 7 hours.
  6. Serve: Once cooked, serve the stuffed peppers as they are or sprinkle with cheese for extra flavor.
