Serves: 4-5
Prep time: 25 minutes
Cook time: 50 minutes

  • 1/4 cup light soy sauce
  • 5 tbsp. honey
  • 1 tbsp. sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp. dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. Mirin
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. white pepper
  • 2 tbsp. toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 spring onions, chopped
  • 2 medium chicken breasts, boneless, skinless
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • Canola oil

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. In a large ziploc bag, measure out the cornstarch. Chop the chicken into 1 inch pieces and add in the bag. Seal well and shake until chicken is thoroughly coated. Heat 3-4 tablespoons of oil into a large pot over medium-high heat. In a small bowl, whisk eggs and coat chicken on both sides. Cook in very hot oil for 30 seconds, just until slightly golden and not fully cooked. Transfer chicken in a 8″ x 8″ dish. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauces, honey, Mirin, ginger, sesame oil, and white pepper together. Pour liquid over top of chicken and toss to coat. Bake in the oven for 1 hour, tossing chicken twice to coat with sauce. Garnish with sesame seeds and spring onions. Serve with tooth picks and enjoy.
