Spicy, sweet, and cheesy? What more could you want from an appetizer! Try out these jalapeno poppers for a unique and flavorful appetizer!
Ingredients:
- 11 oz. soft goat cheese
- 8 jalapenos, halved and seeded
- 1 tbsp. honey
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup canola oil
- 2/3 cup Panko crumbs
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1 tsp. sea salt
- 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper (dried)
Directions:
Combine flour and pepper in a bowl. Whisk together egg, salt, and 2 tablespoons water in a small bowl. Combine panko crumbs and remaining salt in another small bowl. Roll goat cheese into 16 balls. Place each goat cheese ball into a jalapeno half. Without separating the two, roll the pepper and cheese in flour mixture, dip in egg mixture, and dredge in panko mixture.
Heat oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Fry the poppers for 2-3 minutes or until crisp. Remove with a spoon, and place on paper towels to drain. Afterwards drizzle with honey and serve!
